27.29-Carat Diamond Worth ₹2 Crore Found at NMDC Mine in Panna

A 27.29-carat diamond was discovered at the NMDC Limited diamond mine in Majhgawan, Panna, Madhya Pradesh, on September 15, 2026. The find was made during regular mining operations, with mine officials crediting the team's work and modern technology for the discovery.
Panna has long held the designation of "Diamond City" due to its rich deposits and history of significant diamond finds. The newly discovered diamond will undergo quality and grade evaluation by experts before its final value is determined through official processes.
The discovery gains added significance following Panna diamonds' recent receipt of a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Traders and officials believe this regional certification could enhance the diamond's market value beyond its current ₹2 crore estimate.
