AAP-GFP Alliance in Goa: Can Kejriwal's Party Expand Beyond Two Seats in 2027?

In the 2022 Goa assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won two seats in southern Goa—Velim and Benaulim—with 64,354 votes (6.77% vote share) from contesting 39 of 40 seats. This marked the party's first major electoral success in the state, though it lagged far behind the BJP (33.31%) and Congress (23.46%).
Ahead of the 2027 elections, AAP has forged an alliance with the Goa Forward Party (GFP), signaling an attempt to consolidate opposition strength. Goa's fractious political landscape—where votes are highly split and parties can win few seats despite substantial vote shares—creates an opening for regional alliances. With Congress weakening after eight of its 11 MLAs defected to the BJP, the opposition space remains contested.
The key question is whether the AAP-GFP partnership can establish itself as a credible alternative to the BJP and capitalize on growing discontent to significantly improve on its two-seat baseline in 2027.
