AIMIM's TV face Asim Waqar joins Congress, cites disagreement with party direction

Asim Waqar, a Lucknow-based television personality and AIMIM's national spokesperson, has joined the Congress party. Waqar became a recognizable figure in Uttar Pradesh politics through frequent TV appearances representing AIMIM's position on national issues.

Waqar's departure marks a setback for AIMIM chief Owaisi as the party prepares for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections. His move to Congress signals internal dissatisfaction within AIMIM ranks over the party's direction and strategy.
