Airlines seek safety audit details on Adani's plan to shift Mumbai flights to NMIA

Airlines operating from Mumbai have sought detailed information about the safety audit concerning the proposed relocation of 265 flights to the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), an Adani Group project. The carriers have raised concerns about the transition plan and requested visibility into the safety assessment process.
The shift forms part of Adani's strategy to redistribute traffic between the existing Bombay High Court-regulated airport and the newly operational NMIA. However, airlines have pushed back, seeking assurance that the move will not compromise operational safety or passenger security.
The demand for transparency reflects industry concerns about capacity management, coordination between two airports, and adherence to aviation safety protocols during the transition. Adani Group has not yet publicly released details of the safety audit findings that would justify the flight redistribution plan.
