Akhilesh Yadav Demands Action After Mau Railway Event Turns Into Political Clash

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has launched a sharp attack on the Uttar Pradesh government following a heated political exchange during a railway inauguration event in Mau, demanding strict police action against those he described as “criminal elements” involved in creating tension at the programme.
The controversy erupted during the inauguration of the Mau–Anand Vihar train service, an event the SP leader claimed was made possible through the efforts of party MP Rajeev Rai. However, what was expected to be a routine public function quickly turned into a politically charged confrontation on the stage.
According to Rai, he was initially invited to the programme but later faced what he called deliberate humiliation. He alleged that remarks made by state Energy Minister AK Sharma were indirectly aimed at him, triggering a sharp escalation in tensions at the venue.
Yadav, reacting strongly on social media, said the programme was intentionally disrupted and accused unnamed individuals of trying to spoil a public welfare event. He claimed that people with criminal backgrounds were being allowed to move freely and demanded their identification and prosecution through proper investigation methods.
He further alleged that Uttar Pradesh was witnessing an increasing influence of what he termed “inter-state mafia networks” and warned that failure to act would raise questions about the government’s role in the incident. He also described the situation as a direct challenge to the state administration.
MP Rajeev Rai also raised concerns, alleging that certain individuals at the railway event misbehaved not only with him but also with women present and even obstructed police personnel. He claimed that some of those involved had prior records of violence.
The political dispute escalated further after the minister’s controversial remark referencing “plots” and “occupation,” which opposition leaders linked to an earlier land-related issue involving Rai. The comment triggered backlash and added fuel to an already tense atmosphere at the event.
