Alstom to bid for ₹2,000-crore Chennai Metro Rail order

French railway manufacturer Alstom is preparing to place a bid for a ₹2,000-crore tender floated by Chennai Metro Rail for the supply of 168 metro cars. The company is expected to submit its proposal in the coming days.
The tender requires trains to be customised to Chennai Metro's existing technical specifications. This includes compatibility with the metro system's signalling infrastructure, platform dimensions, and door-spacing standards.
The order represents a significant opportunity in India's metro rail expansion sector, with bidders needing to align their offerings to the precise operational requirements of the Chennai network.
