Anant Nag becomes second Kannada star to win Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Anant Nag has become the second Kannada actor to win the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest honour in cinema. Dr. Rajkumar was the first Kannada actor to receive the award in 1995. While cinematographer V. K. Murthy from Karnataka was honoured with the award in 2008, it was for his contributions to Hindi cinema rather than Kannada films.
