Andhra Pradesh's sporting infrastructure crumbles as Olympic glory fades

Andhra Pradesh has only one Olympic medal to its name—a bronze won by a weightlifter at the Sydney Games. The state, which once maintained a structured system capable of producing medal winners, has allowed its sporting infrastructure to decline significantly over the years.
According to a report from Visakhapatnam, the state's sports culture, which was formerly robust and well-organized, has fallen into disrepair. The erosion of institutional support and training frameworks has left Andhra Pradesh unable to compete at elite levels in international sporting events.
