Anonymous Meta pages spending ₹15 lakh/month to promote Yogi in UP, BJP denies link

Anonymous Meta pages are running paid campaigns in Uttar Pradesh spending approximately ₹15 lakh per month to promote Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and attack opposition leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Congress, even though the 2027 state elections have not been announced yet.

In contrast, opposition-backed pages are spending less than ₹2,000 monthly on similar activities. The BJP has distanced itself from these anonymous accounts, declining to acknowledge any formal association with the campaign operations.

The discovery raises questions about early campaign spending ahead of the next UP assembly elections and the role of undisclosed digital campaigns in state politics.
