Chinese mobile covers to cost more as government imposes anti-dumping duty

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGTR) has imposed an anti-dumping duty on mobile covers imported from China, expected to raise prices for consumers. The move follows findings that Chinese imports have captured nearly half of India's domestic market, while the domestic industry's market share has shrunk to about one-fourth.
The anti-dumping measure is aimed at protecting India's domestic mobile cover manufacturers from predatory pricing practices by Chinese competitors. The duty is expected to make imported covers costlier and level the playing field for local producers.
