Ao bodies give Nagaland DoSE deadline to address teacher shortage

Three Ao bodies—Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang—have given the Nagaland Department of School Education until the end of the 2026 academic year to address teacher shortage and uneven distribution in government schools across Mokokchung district. The organisations acknowledged the department's assurance that teacher rationalisation and recruitment were underway, but noted that shortages, particularly of subject teachers, continued to affect students.
The bodies had issued a 45-day ultimatum to the department on July 3, 2026. They urged the department to use the remaining academic year to ensure adequate recruitment and equitable distribution of teachers, including subject teachers, across government schools in the district.
The three organisations warned they would pursue democratic action if concrete and effective measures were not taken by the end of the academic year.
