Ao Senden demands NSCN (I-M) leaders retract remarks against Dr. S.C. Jamir

Several Ao community organisations, led by apex body Ao Senden, have strongly condemned recent verbal attacks against veteran Naga leader, former Nagaland Chief Minister and former Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir by NSCN (I-M) leaders. The group has issued a 15-day ultimatum demanding retraction of the disparaging remarks.
Ao Senden said NSCN (I-M) deputy ato kilonser V.S. Atem alleged Dr. Jamir was "not mandated and authorized" by the people and was "just talking for the sake of barking." Steering committee member R.H. Raising reportedly claimed Dr. Jamir was "not an advocate of the Naga people" and had "no right to talk about the issue."
The Senden asserted that the Naga political issue concerns collective aspirations of all Naga people and cannot be monopolised by any single organisation or group. It maintained that every Naga citizen with understanding of the political situation has the right to express views and contribute towards resolving the stalled political process.
