First international cargo vessel departs Assam's Bogibeel for Dhaka since independence

A cargo vessel has departed from Bogibeel in Assam, marking the first international cargo shipment from the port since India's independence. The vessel will travel approximately 768 kilometres down National Waterway-2 on the Brahmaputra River to the Indo-Bangladesh border, then proceed along the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route (IBPR) to reach Dhaka.
The shipment represents a significant development in India-Bangladesh trade connectivity through inland waterways. Bogibeel port's emergence as a gateway for international commerce underscores efforts to enhance regional trade infrastructure and utilise established waterway corridors.
