Auto sector reports sustained growth a year into GST 2.0 reform

One year after the GST 2.0 reform, India's automobile sector continues to report strong performance. Maruti Suzuki, the country's leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, saw sales rise 36 per cent year-on-year during April-August 2026, according to company MD Hisashi Takeuchi.
The auto industry credits the GST reform with sustaining robust growth momentum. Monthly sales figures have remained consistently positive throughout the reform period, suggesting the tax restructuring has had a stabilising effect on consumer demand and business operations.
