Bank strike shuts branches in Vizianagaram till September 15

Employees of all cadres at banks in Vizianagaram held a march from Ananda Gajapathi auditorium to Fort Junction on Monday, responding to a call by the United Forum of Bank Unions. The strike has forced closure of bank branches across the district.

The coordination committee said bank managements have ignored demands raised over five days. The unions are pressing for performance-linked incentives to be extended to all staff members, not limited to select categories.

Branch operations are expected to remain suspended until September 15, impacting banking services in the region.
