Barapullah Phase III: Decade-long delay leaves traffic plan outdated

The Barapullah Phase III project in east Delhi has remained stalled for over a decade, rendering its original design obsolete for current traffic needs. During the delay, east Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad witnessed rapid vehicle growth at rates far exceeding initial projections when the project was conceived.
The infrastructure plan, originally designed to address traffic challenges of the 2010s era, now faces the challenge of solving congestion patterns anticipated for 2026. The extended delay has allowed vehicle registrations across the region to outpace the capacity assumptions built into the project's original framework.
