Bengaluru construction workers not benefiting from green building push

A research study based on discussions with 55 construction workers and interviews with 15 stakeholders in Bengaluru reveals that labourers have not benefited economically from the city's transition to green buildings. Despite the adoption of low-carbon construction practices, workers' wages remain unchanged.
The findings highlight a disconnect between Bengaluru's environmental building standards and worker welfare. While the construction sector has shifted towards sustainable practices, the economic gains have not translated into improved compensation for the workforce on ground.
