Interstate arms smuggling network busted in Bengaluru, seven arrested

Anekal sub-division police have dismantled an alleged interstate network supplying country-made pistols in and around Bengaluru. Seven persons have been arrested, including two rowdy-sheeters, with five country-made pistols and 10 bullets seized.
The operation began on August 14 when police arrested Pradeep, 30, from Madhya Pradesh, carrying three pistols and ammunition near Haldenahalli railway gate. During interrogation, Pradeep revealed the weapons were brought from Madhya Pradesh by train for sale in the city. Dawood of Bhedaghat in Madhya Pradesh is suspected to be the supplier. Pradeep had allegedly sold two pistols to rowdy-sheeters Rizwan Pasha and Manoj, who were subsequently arrested.
The other arrested include Venkatraja, Shivaraj, Gopi and Nanjappa, all residents of Geratiganabele near Anekal. A case has been registered against all seven under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act.
