Bengaluru school grapples with teacher shortage, infrastructure woes

Basaveshwara Aided High School in Mahalakshmipuram is facing a severe shortage of mathematics and science teachers for 96 students in Classes 9 and 10. Despite the staffing gap, students are being made to appear for ongoing mid-term examinations.
A joint delegation of students, parents, and representatives from the All India Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO) escalated the issue to higher authorities. Beyond teacher vacancies, the school struggles with critical infrastructure problems, including a single working toilet and leaking roofs. The Block Education Officer has promised to fill teaching positions within two days.
AIDSO said it will continue agitation until all vacancies are filled and pending sanitation and repair work is completed.
