Bharat Spice Map to boost value addition and global competitiveness

India is launching the Bharat Spice Map, a strategic initiative designed to enhance the value addition and global competitiveness of Indian spices. The programme will help align spice production across the country with industry requirements and shifting global demand patterns.
By combining India's diverse spice resources with scientific insights, the initiative seeks to optimise production strategies and strengthen the sector's position in international markets. The mapping exercise is expected to provide data-driven guidance for spice farmers and producers on crop selection, cultivation practices, and market opportunities.
The move comes as part of broader efforts to modernise India's spice sector, which remains a significant contributor to agricultural output and exports. The initiative aims to ensure that Indian spices maintain their competitive edge while meeting quality and sustainability standards demanded by global buyers.
