Bhopal Municipal Corporation Audits Fire Safety, But Its Own HQ Lacks Fire NOC

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation is inspecting high-rise buildings and commercial establishments for fire safety compliance, yet its own headquarters—the eight-storey Atal Bhawan inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav a month ago—has not obtained a Fire No Objection Certificate. The building, constructed at Rs 72 crore, remains operationally incomplete in fire safety terms.
Fire boxes on multiple floors remain empty, lacking essential equipment such as hose reels and branch pipes. Though fire lines have been installed, key firefighting systems are incomplete. BMC fire official Saurabh Patel stated the Fire NOC process is underway and may take about a week once all safety standards are met.
The gap highlights inconsistency as BMC intensifies inspections across the city following recent fire incidents. The drive, prompted by a fire in Lalghati's commercial area, aims to ensure citywide fire preparedness compliance.
