Bhopal Government Doctors Allegedly Redirect Patients to Private Clinics

Patients visiting government hospitals in Bhopal allege that doctors frequently ask them to continue treatment at their private clinics, citing the need for more detailed examinations. Several government medical college doctors operate private practices after duty hours, with some patients reporting they were specifically directed to these clinics despite initially approaching public hospitals for care.
Senior doctors at Gandhi Medical College and Hamidia Hospital are associated with private facilities. An orthopaedic surgeon at GMC directs patients to his private clinic, while a cardiologist operates a clinic at Jawahar Chowk, seeing patients in the morning before visiting the government hospital and returning to his private clinic in the evening.
One accident victim reported being repeatedly advised by an orthopaedic surgeon to visit his private clinic for proper examination. The practice raises concerns about whether government doctors are adequately adhering to regulations regarding private practice while employed in public institutions.
