Bhopal Master Plan 2047 Draft Released, Focuses on Sustainable Development and 51 km Growth Corridor

The Madhya Pradesh government has released the draft Bhopal Master Plan 2047, covering an investment area of 1,016.90 square kilometers spanning 254 villages. The plan is designed for an estimated population of 45 lakh (4.5 million) and rests on four pillars: conservation of natural ecosystems, reform-driven planning, modern citizen-friendly approaches, and sustainable economic development.
Key features include eco-sensitive planning to preserve Bhoj Tal (Upper Lake) and its catchment, alongside provisions for protecting hills, forests, and tiger movement corridors. The plan allocates approximately 3,000 hectares of land for a 51-kilometer Growth Corridor to boost economic development and employment opportunities while ensuring environmental protection.
The development strategy emphasizes integration with the Bhopal Metropolitan Area to enable mutual resource benefits, and proposes the Growth Corridor to accommodate commercial activities including offices, hotels, logistics, and airport facilities.
