Bhopal Metro to Speed Up After Signalling System Upgrade in July

Bhopal Metro is set for a significant upgrade with a new signalling system expected to become operational in July after inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The upgrade will enable faster train speeds and increased service frequency on the network.
Work on the signalling system for the 7-kilometre stretch between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS has been completed. The system uses modern technology similar to that deployed in Delhi Metro. Currently, the metro operates on a 12-kilometre section at reduced speeds, but the upgrade will reduce travel time and improve service availability during peak office hours.
The signalling system upgrade marks the first phase of the project for the 30-kilometre Orange and Yellow line network, involving tenders worth approximately ₹800 crore. A CMRS inspection team is expected next week to issue final clearance.
