Bhopal BMC Seals 109 Commercial Establishments in Single Day Crackdown

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted a major crackdown on Monday against commercial establishments operating illegally from residential zones. A total of 109 establishments were closed during the drive—102 ceased operations voluntarily and 7 were sealed by the Corporation, marking the highest single-day sealing count so far. Properties sealed included two marriage gardens.
The BMC has issued 8,264 notices across Bhopal and served final notices on over 100 establishments including hotels, restaurants, pubs, bars, factories and gyms, ordering closure within 24 hours. Narela and Madhya constituencies recorded the highest compliance, with three properties sealed and multiple voluntary closures in each.
The enforcement drive faced opposition from traders in areas like Rachna Nagar and Arera Colony, who sought additional time. BMC officials stated that repeated notices had been issued over several days, leaving no further extension possible.
