Science Teacher Transferred After Bhopal Students Protest Over Harassment

Students of Classes 11 and 12 at a government higher secondary school in Misrod, Bhopal, protested on Monday against a science teacher accused of harassment. They alleged the teacher threatened to fail them, demanded Rs 2,500 monthly in the name of projects, and made students perform household and school chores, including work on Sundays. The students submitted a written complaint to the principal on October 3.
The protest ended after four hours when district education officer Abhinav Arya ordered the teacher's transfer to Bagroda Higher Secondary School. A teacher from Bagroda was transferred to Misrod in her place. The students played an audio recording of a purported conversation with the teacher discussing payment, passing or failing marks, and examination expenses.
