Birth and Death Certificate Rules Changing from October 1; Process Will Be Stricter on Delays

The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, passed in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, has received the assent of the President. The new law will come into effect from October, and the process of registering births and deaths will become stricter than before.

Under this, the rules will become more stringent for delays in registration. Affected citizens will be required to submit the necessary documents on time.
