BJD opposes plan to lease Bhubaneswar airport to private operator
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has opposed a proposal to lease out Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport to a private operator. The party highlighted that the airport is valued between ₹5,000 crore and ₹7,000 crore and serves approximately 50 lakh passengers annually.
The BJD's criticism comes as the government considers privatising the airport management. The party's stance reflects concerns about transferring control of a major public asset to private hands.
