BJP Claims Samajwadi Party Facing Internal Split Ahead of 2027 UP Elections

Senior ministers in Uttar Pradesh's BJP government claimed this week that the Samajwadi Party faces an imminent internal split. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya alleged that 25 to 26 SP MPs are ready to leave the party before the 2027 Assembly elections, while Cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar predicted a major split in the opposition party.
Akhilesh Yadav, the SP chief, countered by accusing the BJP of using fear and financial inducements to orchestrate defections. Rajbhar also alleged that senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav had secretly written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, naming leaders willing to switch sides, though no evidence was provided. The exchanges reflect intensified political rivalry ahead of the 2027 state elections.
