BMC cracks down on home-based businesses as Metro commercial spaces struggle to attract tenants

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is intensifying its drive to clear commercial activities from residential spaces across the city. This enforcement comes as the Mumbai Metro rail project's commercial spaces continue to face a shortage of interested tenants.
The civic body's crackdown on unauthorised business operations in homes aims to enforce zoning regulations. Simultaneously, Metro authorities have been struggling to fill commercial units allocated for retail and other business purposes within and around metro stations.
