BMC Sealing Drive On Hold As Supreme Court Hearing Deferred

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation's (BMC) sealing drive against illegal commercial establishments operating in residential areas may remain suspended until the Supreme Court's next hearing. The hearing originally scheduled for September 15 was deferred due to judicial leave, with no fresh date announced yet.
The action followed a Supreme Court directive issued on August 5 regarding commercial activities in residential zones. The BMC identified approximately 62,000 establishments for scrutiny but issued notices to only 8,084. The sealing campaign lasted three days before being halted following trader protests. The BMC has submitted its action-taken report to the Supreme Court, while residents have submitted documents questioning the municipal action's manner and extent.
