Counting underway for Datia Assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh

Counting of votes is underway for the Datia Assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh, with tight security measures in place. The bypoll was triggered after Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti was sentenced to three years imprisonment by a Delhi court in April this year in a cheating case, resulting in his disqualification from the Assembly.

The election is being held to fill the vacant seat left by Bharti's conviction and subsequent loss of membership.
