CEA warns of financial risks if AI optimism proves misplaced

Chief Economic Adviser Anantha Nageswaran has raised concerns over potential financial risks associated with artificial intelligence, warning that misplaced optimism could prove costly. He indicated that finance ministries, central banks, and households could bear the burden of expenses if AI expectations are not realised.
Nageswaran stated that even if AI developments meet current projections, these entities may still incur costs. He plans to outline five specific risks related to AI's financial implications in forthcoming discussions.
The CEA intends to suggest potential government actions aimed at mitigating these risks. His remarks underscore growing concerns among policymakers about the need for prudent risk management in the context of rapid artificial intelligence advancement.
