Uttar Pradesh government plans to expand Bharat Taxi to all 75 districts with zero commission and no surge pricing

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to expand the Bharat Taxi model across all 75 districts of the state. Currently operational in Lucknow and Kanpur, the cooperative taxi service will be extended to cities and villages through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies.
The model offers three types of services—bike, auto, and cab—with zero commission and no surge pricing for passengers. A key feature is making drivers stakeholders in the business. The expansion aims to provide organised taxi services to smaller cities and villages, offering transport options for commuting within and between districts, as well as to railway stations, airports, hospitals, and markets.
The Chief Minister has instructed preparations for bringing the statewide initiative to fruition, focusing on bringing affordable taxi services to district levels rather than limiting them to major urban centres.
