Chennai tourist cab operators seek access to airport pick-up plaza
The Chennai Tourist Car Operator's Association has requested the Airports Authority of India to permit traditional tourist cab operators to use the newly opened pick-up plaza at Terminal-1 of Chennai airport for pre-booked passengers.
The association welcomed the facility but noted it currently serves only app-based taxi services like Ola, Rapido and Red Taxi. CTCOA members operate established fleets ranging from 10 to over 100 vehicles and provide transportation for VIPs, senior bureaucrats, government officials and corporate clients through advance bookings.
The association has urged AAI to extend plaza access to all tourist taxi vehicles for pre-booked passenger pick-ups, citing their years of service in airport transportation.
