Child dies of shigellosis; two cases reported in Kannur

A child has died of shigellosis in Kerala's Malappuram district, while two additional cases of the disease have been reported in neighbouring Kannur district. In response, the Malappuram district administration has announced a two-week public health campaign starting June 17 to combat communicable diseases and prevent further spread.

Shigellosis is a bacterial infection that causes severe diarrhoea and intestinal complications. The campaign will focus on disease awareness, hygiene promotion, and preventive measures across the district.
