Chakhesang Baptist Church Council condemns ECI's Sunday publication of electoral rolls

The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has expressed strong objection to the Election Commission of India's decision to publish Draft Electoral Rolls 2026 on Sunday, September 20, for all four Assembly Constituencies in Phek district, Nagaland. The church body termed the last-minute announcement a "conspiracy of the pro communal ECI to deceive the Christian community."
CBCC stated that Sunday is a sacred day for Christians and described the scheduling as "disheartening and a desecration of the Lord's Day." The council expressed disappointment that political parties, electoral officers and bureaucrats remained silent despite the state being Christian-dominated.
The church vowed to strongly oppose any individual, party or administration that undermines Christian faith, asserting that "the Church of Jesus will not bow before any authority on earth and will not be coerced by any pressure."
