Class 7 Student Killed by Lightning Strike During National Sports Day Event in Jharkhand

A Class 7 student, Anish Oraon, was killed by a lightning strike while participating in a National Sports Day event at Upgraded Middle School Dhara in Chatra district, Jharkhand, on Saturday. The incident occurred when rain accompanied by thunder and lightning struck the area during the afternoon sports event.

Oraon, originally from Ranchi, was severely injured by the strike and rushed to Sadar Hospital by school staff and students. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Chatra SDPO Sonny Vardhan confirmed no other student was harmed. According to police, Oraon was living with his maternal grandparents while pursuing his studies at the school. His grandmother has alleged negligence on the part of school teachers.
