CMFRI organises backwater cruise to showcase Vembanad's ecological importance

The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) organised a backwater cruise on Vembanad Lake to highlight the ecological wealth and importance of the water body. The cruise was conducted as part of CMFRI's Fish Walk initiative, an outreach programme designed to bring scientific knowledge to the public through experiential tours and hands-on engagement.
The initiative aims to increase awareness about marine ecosystems and fisheries-related conservation efforts among the general public.
