CNTC criticises NSCN (I-M) remarks against former CM Jamir

The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has expressed regret over recent public remarks by NSCN (I-M) deputy ato kilonser V.S. Atem and Collective Leadership member Rh Raising targeting former Nagaland chief minister S.C. Jamir. While acknowledging that political debate is natural, CNTC said certain remarks had exceeded the bounds of constructive engagement.
CNTC stated that Dr. Jamir, as a senior Naga leader and participant in modern Naga history, retained the right to express views on matters of common concern. It warned that questioning the standing of respected elders risked introducing divisive elements into complex political discourse.
The council appealed to all Naga political groups, civil society organisations and public figures to exercise restraint, uphold mutual respect and prioritise consensus-building. CNTC emphasised that Naga customary values of respecting elders and dialogue grounded in reason remained important, particularly as the people seek a lasting resolution to the long-pending political issue.
