Coal-fired power generation rises as renewables, hydro dip in September

India's coal-fired power generation increased its share during September as renewable energy and hydroelectric output declined, according to latest data.
During the July to September quarter, India's overall energy consumption rose 11.5 per cent year-on-year to approximately 502 billion units. The seasonal decline in hydroelectric generation and fluctuations in renewable energy availability contributed to coal's increased role in meeting the country's rising power demand during this period.
