Coal supplies to power plants surge 36% from September lows

Coal supplies to thermal power plants have risen sharply by 36 per cent from September lows, according to the Coal Ministry. The improvement reflects enhanced operational efficiency in the coal supply chain across the country.
Rail loading has also picked up significantly, reaching 465 rakes per day. This increase in transport capacity has enabled faster movement of coal from mines to power generation facilities.
The Coal Ministry noted that stock depletion at power plants is expected to moderate by mid-October, based on historical consumption patterns. Power demand is also anticipated to ease during this period, which would further ease pressure on coal inventories and improve the overall energy security position.
