Congress fields ex-MLA Sibamoni Bora for Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election in Assam

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Sibamoni Bora, a former MLA, for the upcoming by-election to the Lok Sabha seat from Nagaon in Assam. The All India Congress Committee issued a press release confirming the approval, which was signed by party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.

The Nagaon seat was vacated by Pradyut Bardoloi, who won it on a Congress ticket in 2024 but later joined the BJP. The by-election is scheduled for 6 October, with counting on 9 October.

This by-election is among multiple contests announced by the Election Commission, including vacancies in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
