Copper Wires Stolen From NIC Office in Bhopal's Satpura Bhawan

Copper wires and pipes connected to air-conditioning units were stolen from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) office on the first floor of Satpura Bhawan, a high-security government building in Bhopal. The theft occurred during public holidays on September 12, 13 and 14. Police registered a case on Friday following a complaint by the NIC state centre's director and security officer.
The stolen materials left the air-conditioning units non-functional, disrupting office operations. The NIC houses critical IT infrastructure and servers that support digital services for the state secretariat and other government departments. Any prolonged disruption could affect essential government functions.
Arera Hills police said they are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed inside and around Satpura Bhawan to identify the suspects. Police station in-charge Sunil Kumar Sharma stated that an investigation has been launched. The theft has raised questions about the adequacy of security measures at the government building, particularly given repeated incidents of theft despite existing arrangements.
