Daman Collector enforces road safety oath from SUV owners

The Daman Collector has launched a unique initiative targeting owners of premium sport utility vehicles like Thars and Fortuners. The owners were assembled and required to take an oath committing to road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
The move aims to curb rash driving and dangerous behaviour on roads. The Collector emphasised zero tolerance for what he termed 'bhaigiri' or 'ruffiangism' — referring to aggressive, law-breaking conduct by vehicle owners.
The initiative reflects efforts by local administration to improve road safety standards in the union territory through direct engagement with vehicle owners rather than punitive measures alone.
