Delhi Court Convicts Five in Bhajanpura Petrol Pump Riot Case

A Delhi court on Wednesday convicted five men—Arif, Mohd. Khalid, Abdul Sattar, Tanveer Ali, and Hunain—in connection with violence at Bhajanpura petrol pump on February 24, 2020. Additional Sessions Judge Parveen Singh found them guilty of rioting, obstructing public servants, and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the IPC.
The court determined that a mob of 100-150 people had gathered with the common intent to commit riot, arson, and vandalism. The five accused were identified as part of this unlawful assembly. The court concluded the prosecution had proved charges beyond reasonable doubt after examining witness testimonies and material evidence.
Sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 16, 2026.
