Delhi HC quashes criminal case against Nestlé India in Maggi lead content matter

The Delhi High Court has quashed criminal proceedings against Nestlé India and its distributors in the decade-old Maggi lead contamination case. The court found that subsequent laboratory testing and prior court orders had substantially weakened the original prosecution case.
The decision marks the final legal hurdle cleared in the matter that erupted in 2015 when the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India banned Maggi noodles over alleged excess lead content. The case had triggered a major consumer panic and corporate controversy at the time.
The court's ruling allows Nestlé to fully close this chapter after years of legal battles and regulatory scrutiny.
