NLU Delhi students march for women's safety, demand street lights and police presence

Students of National Law University Delhi organised a solidarity march on September 30, 2026, to advocate for women's safety and gender equality. The event drew participation from B.A. LLB (Hons.) and LLM batches, along with faculty members who marched with placards carrying messages on gender equality and anti-discrimination pledges.
Female students raised concerns about inadequate street lighting, absence of a woman point of contact, and insufficient patrolling around campus and nearby areas. They also flagged issues posed by a liquor shop near the campus, which affects access to the nearest metro station at Dwarka Sector 14.
During the march, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushal Pal Singh and Station House Officer Sunil Kumar addressed the students' grievances. The SHO assured students that a police booth would be set up adjacent to the campus by October 15, 2026, and committed to regular patrolling around campus premises and surrounding parks.
