Himachal drops kabaddi captain Ritu Negi from Asian Games reward list

Ritu Negi, captain of India's kabaddi team, has been excluded from the cash reward list following the women's gold medal victory at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. While her teammates received official acknowledgment and rewards, Negi was notably left out, drawing scrutiny over recognition practices for athletes.
The omission has raised questions about how state governments handle honours for sportspeople, particularly women athletes after marriage. Negi, who has been a celebrated figure in kabaddi, expressed her disappointment over being dropped from Himachal Pradesh's recognition list despite her instrumental role in the team's success.
The state's Sports Minister has acknowledged the oversight and committed to a review of the decision to ensure that Negi's contributions to India's Asian Games victory are properly acknowledged and rewarded.
