Delhi poll officials to reverify over 47 lakh excluded voters from draft roll

Booth-level officers (BLOs) in Delhi will undertake voter reverification for more than 47 lakh electors who were excluded during the preparation of the draft electoral roll. The move aims to ensure eligible voters are not left out of the final register ahead of elections.
Among six major metropolitan areas — Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad — Delhi recorded the second-lowest deletion rate at the draft stage, with 32.8% of names removed. This process is part of the standard electoral roll revision procedure to maintain accuracy and integrity of voter lists.
The reverification exercise will allow excluded electors to appeal and restore their names if they meet eligibility criteria. Election officials have outlined a timeline for the submission of applications and verification by BLOs to complete the process before the final roll is published.
